Earlier this month, members of our team were proud to join the Hunting with Soldiers event, an annual gathering that connects veterans through outdoor adventure and camaraderie.
Two teams participated this year, including Renegade employees who are themselves military veterans. One of our teams also welcomed an Army veteran from outside the organization. Events like this aren’t about job titles or company logos. They are about community, healing, and shared purpose.
Hunting with Soldiers is a nonprofit organization founded in 2007 with one mission: to bring combat veterans into the outdoors and provide the peace and healing that only nature can offer. Through hunting and fishing experiences at no cost to participants, the program creates a space where veterans can reconnect with one another, build new support networks, and address the invisible wounds of PTSD. With 100 percent of its staff serving as volunteers, the organization offers everything from meals and lodging to gear and guides, powered entirely by public support.
Their efforts extend beyond the traditional retreat model. Each year, they also host dove hunts for both combat and non-combat veterans, and run “sweat equity trips” where participants give back to hosts through light land work and repairs during the day, while continuing to hunt or fish mornings and evenings.
“The mental health challenges that veterans face don’t end when they come home, and they don’t always show up on the outside,” said Brandon Johnson, Renegade’s HSE Manager. “Being able to connect with veterans in a setting like this gives people a chance to open up, reset, and remember they’re not alone. We’re honored to be part of it.”
We thank Hunting with Soldiers for their continued commitment to veteran well-being and for allowing us to share in this mission. Events like this reflect the core of what we value at Renegade: support, service, and solidarity, on and off the job site.
